Kashi Vidyapeeth was the first modern university organised by Indians in British India.The Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth is a deemed and chartered university located in the city of Varanasi, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Formerly known as the Kashi Vidyapeeth.The Kashi Vidya Peeth was set up in 1920 by Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta to provide alternate education arrangement during the Non-cooperation movement during India's freedom struggle.
